What valves are used in offshore oil and gas applications?
Offshore valve selection depends on the medium, pressure, temperature, piping specification and required function. WESTAD SCORPIO 2X™ is a high-performance butterfly valve platform developed for demanding marine, offshore and process applications, with several material options and pressure ratings up to ANSI Class 300.

Which butterfly valves are suitable for seawater, chemical and hydrocarbon service offshore?
The service name alone is not enough to select the valve. Material compatibility, operating conditions and the piping specification all need to be considered.
WESTAD SCORPIO 2X™ is available in Duplex, Super Duplex, SS 316, Titanium and NiAlBr, allowing the valve material to be selected according to the application requirements.

Where are butterfly valves installed on offshore platforms and floating production units?
Yes — provided the valve is selected for the actual duty. WESTAD SCORPIO 2X™ is designed for both tight shut-off and throttling service.

How do you select the right valve material, pressure rating and sealing solution for offshore service?
Start with the application: medium, temperature, design pressure, piping material and operating duty.
WESTAD SCORPIO 2X™ is available in ANSI Class 150/300 and ISO PN 10/16/25/40, with several material options. The sealing solution should be selected according to the specific service conditions rather than treated as one standard solution for every offshore application.
