LNG Cargo
Safe voyage for the energy the world depends on
TRUSTED IN LNG APPLICATIONS SINCE THE 1960s
LNG operations place unique demands on valve performance, materials and reliability.
Operating temperatures as low as -196°C leave little room for error, making proven design and operational experience essential.
KLINGER Westad supplied its first LNG valves in the 1960s and its first LNG butterfly valves in 1973. More than 50 years of LNG experience have helped shape the valve solutions we deliver today.
Over the decades, we have worked closely with shipowners, operators and shipyards around the world,
continuously refining our designs based on
real-world operation, maintenance and service experience. This accumulated knowledge is reflected in every valve we deliver.

FOR SAFE AND RELIABLE OPERATION THROGHOUT THE VESSEL LIFECYCLE
Our cryogenic butterfly valves are designed to support safe and reliable operation throughout the vessel lifecycle. From cargo handling systems and fuel gas systems to dry dock maintenance and lifecycle support, KLINGER Westad helps LNG operators maintain operational confidence in some of the world’s most demanding environments.

What valves are used on LNG carriers?
Cryogenic butterfly valves such as WESTAD CRYOSEAL 2X are used on LNG carriers for applications requiring reliable operation and tight shut-off at very low temperatures
What temperature range must valves handle in LNG cargo systems?
CRYOSEAL 2X is a butterfly valve designed for tight shut-off and throttling service, with temperature range: +180 °C to −196 °C
How do you select the right cryogenic valve for an LNG carrier?
The right cryogenic valve is selected according to the specific application and operating conditions, including temperature, pressure, size, connection and service requirements. KLINGER Westad can help you identify the appropriate valve configuration for your LNG application.
How often should LNG tanker valves be inspected and maintained?
We recommend inspecting and maintaining LNG tanker valves every five years, or when appropriate during scheduled dry docking. The actual maintenance requirement should also consider the valve condition, operating history and service conditions. Request service to service@klinger-westad.com
